calico ky eastern!

this is a old pic of a crazzy wc male that passed before i could breed him.
he even had blue and orange in his forearms!!had a solid black shell with a tan.cream belly.

That looks like it may be an escaped gulf coast box turtle that someone was keeping as a pet. I'm sure it is possible that it may be an Eastern. But, that type of coloration is very standard in male gulf coast box turtles. I have two that look like that...one is almost indistinguishable from yours.

Am I correct in assuming that he was collected in Kentucky?

yes it was wc in central ky.i have never seen the color(white) on the forarms in floridas.

I was referring to gulf coast box turtles, Terrapene carolina major. The coloration is very standard for males of this subspecies found in the panhandle region of Florida. They are not Florida box turtles, but Florida is part of their range.

But, only genetic analysis can tell you for sure if your turtle is truly some type of unique morphology or an escaped pet.
