Red Foot Shell Issue

sterling365 Nov 25, 2009 11:18 PM

I got this little one from a pet store and ever since I obtained her, she has had a strange spot on her plastron. Over time it has grown and is starting to really worry me. She eats like a cow, gets supplemented with Ca powder, and gets hours of natural sunlight when it's warm outside (but has a UVB bulb for when it's now). She eats anything! Kiwi, carrot, sweet potato, zucchini, squash, apple, sometimes pear. I stick mostly with veggies and do fruits once or twice a week. She's on a mixture of coco fiber and moss and gets misted and soaked all the time. Super active little tort and very curious. Could it be shell rot?

get jock itch cream...rub it in...with your fingers or a tooth brush...that is a fungus on the shell

Have you had any luck clearing up this "fungus"? I have a 4 month old red foot with an identical condition. I took her to the vet and was told it wasn't shell rot, but something that she might've had when she was younger and now it's healed. However, I know this can't be the case as it seems to be getting worse.

yes...plenty of success...others have told me to do it because it worked for them...I suggested it because it worked for my Tortoises...
