A SUPER COOL new arrival!!!

asnakelovinbabe Dec 03, 2009 11:01 PM

You probably wonder if I ever stop taking pictures??? Nope. This forum has been pretty dead but I will continue to stuff it with photo's!

So for today, I'm going to share with you all first, a new acquisition from the great Joe Peck! This is the sibling to Scott's "aztec" plains. He was going to keep it and breed it but plans changed, and now she's allll mine *muhahaha* It's basically a really cool mutation that has completely smeared all the checkers away into stripes. It's TOO COOL FOR WORDS!!!! The pattern is so incredibly CLEAN. I Love, love LOVE this snake!

This gorgeous female chicago also indirectly came from Joe, through Don Belnap. These are really crappy photo's, they don't do her one bit of justice. She's like a TIGER.

And now, here's some updated shots of Blossom, the WC florida erythristic. They are not that great, but she's a big snake, and was flinging sand EVERYWHERE at me.

Here's the best $50 I ever spent! This girl is HOT HOT HOT.

And here is her boyfriend, my male flame:

And people say striped keelbacks are high strung.... PFF. pushovers!

And now, I am bored and am going to share some random, but some of my favorite photos with you... they're not all garters but I still like to share other stuff with all you garter people! You have probably seen some of these before!

At the moment, this is what the snakeroom looks like:

I love EB's

I also love handfuls of cute baby snakes

Here is Mister Mustard the yellow checkered

My florida easterns call this home. They are my favorite group of snakes.

possibly my most favorite photo ever

One of the prettiest dekay's EVER!

Does anyone ever play around with color splashing? It's kind of fun, actually...

eastern eye

me with the most tolerant king rat snake on the planet

This is where the most tolerant king rat snake on the planet resides... it's a 100 gallon tank layed on its side and we built doors onto what used to be the top.. he is the ONLY snake outside the snakeroom, he's right next to my bed.

For christmas I painted the store windows last year. It wasn't done yet, but you all know I HAD to incorporate my love of snakes into one of the window panes

Not many people get the chance to get THIS close to baby birds

This is easily one of my top ten most favorite photo's. Even centipedes know that life is precious.

I keep snakes and of course, I keep fish that look and act like snakes. Here's one of my polypterus:

and finally some pajama cardinals. meaning I am putting on my pajamas and going to bed. hope you enjoyed!

haha, my table was a HUGE HIT at the show. At times I had people just gathered all around marveling at all my garters. It was really a great feeling introducing so many people to the world of garter and water snakes. My cherry hypo banded water snake acted as an ambassador all day, people just loved being able to hold her and to realize that water snakes aren't evil! SO many people took my information, so I feel like I really got my name out there. I did get some stuff, but no thams (cause mine were like the only ones!). I picked up a hypo het albino red blood python, (something i have wanted for a loooong time), as well as an unrelated female cherry hypo water snake that is simply smoking from glades herp, even redder than any of mine! I also inadvertently picked up an enormous 4 foot sunbeam snake that had been someone's pet for $15, and took a durango mtn. kingsnake as a trade for a BP. I also sold all the animals I really wanted to move so it was a great day!

JYohe Dec 06, 2009 06:48 PM

.....I saw Glade's water....actually assumed they were all related to yours and others.....hmmm...LOL...I didn't look at them that closely....I think someone was holding yours while I was there.....

blood....?....how many guppies are you actually going to feed a 7 foot blood python???.....

....OK.well....there was a guy years ago that showed up at Hamburg and had like 5 types of garters....he sold pretty much all of them I think really quickly......he had blue of some type and the black necks I think they are....(I like them)...ones he called Christmas something?...maybe Christmas Mountains...I forget...been awhile.....he had a type of red sided I think....
anyways......he came he went and really don't see too many garters at the show.....checkereds....albino and all...and black garters were a hit back in the day when they were legal.....$5 each makes them over collected real fast.....

so........breed the snot out of them and keep bring kids to Hamburg.......you'll do ok.........(personally I want some and want them eating pinks.....so....soon as I empty some rack space...LOL...funny....I keep more than I have boxes....not hard if you get up to 500 babies some years.....(800 eggs total that year).....

......so....nice to see you......good luck......!....thanxx for adding something different......

JYohe Dec 07, 2009 05:48 PM

I actually cannot remember if it was an amel or not...
cannot remember even if it was pre or post Felzer era...
LOL....sorry Scott....(you are an icon soooo...)
.....
.......really ...don't remember it...like I said the guy had some screaming garters and sold alot really fast...the black neck with that yellow was sweet....you know the Christmas had red in it.....striped maybe...you could be correct....!

was it possibly "christmas Mountain" the locality? I have heard that used as a locality for other animals before!

JYohe Dec 11, 2009 08:19 PM

sound familiar.........

......like I said...not many garters here at shows...you'll kill at some.....I been thinking of them but cannot deal with fishes and worms and daily feedings...300 snakes and 300 to 500 kids a year thousands of rodents and work full time, cook and ...man ...too much work.......had a thought ...if they buy your stuff they won't buy mine...Oh man....

another reason I fear garters...had the Oregon red sides...parents huge 4 foot plus...babies like a year old....all got "stargazer" like disease.....all dead real fast...never figured out why.....some say gold fishes some say tar on worms picked from driveway, some say frozen minnows ...etc etc...never figured it out.......like 6 of them?....

........I am rambling.....it's 9:30 and I been up since 3 am....LOL...........watching Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke...not paying attention to typing too well........

Well, it could have been a lot of things, but very possibly a defect from birth that made itself known as time went by. But, goldfish, and driveway-picked worms are both things I would never feed a single snake even a bite of! Frozen minnows would only be a problem if they were minnows that contain thiaminase, because freezing thiaminase-containing fishes worsens the problem.

I had some albino checkereds born once that were "stargazing" and they didn't make it. One lived for a while, he spent a lot of his time crawling around upside down though.

.........not from birth...
.......goldfish are that bad????
/.....I stayed away from driveway 98 % of the time..
.........Thiaminase....hmmm...gotta Google that word....these were minnows from the Susquehanna River...winter time usually....
.....they acted normally and grew well for like a year then all went badly.......suxx.............

....so......still filling racks with balls here....still gotta make room...gotta...you get babies from that blue thing you got....aaaaaaaaaah!!!!....see ya
