Tokay Gecko Body Condition

Joleena Dec 05, 2009 06:45 PM

Ok...so this is probably going to turn into a terrible opinion-fueled debate, BUT...is a tokay supposed to be the thick necked, round tailed monster of a gecko I have seen from some breeders/keepers or is it supposed to be the more slender bodied, thin tailed lizard I have also seen? What is a healthy body condition for these animals?
Im interested to see how many responses I get of each opinion. Thanks!

A healthy body condition, is an animal that has decent weight, but not fat.

Make sense?

There is no right of wrong.

Here's a pic of an adult female that I have. I think she is perfect. She lays eggs, and maintains her condition.

Where are you seeing the thin-tailed Tokays? Most of the ones at pet stores and reptile expos are WC and come into the country in horrible shape. If you're seeing a large number in a cage and cheap, they're likely WC.
