P. Kuhli without fringed tail

Andrew Dec 17, 2009 08:59 AM

A friend of mine asked me to post this question. He has recently acquired a flying gecko (P. kuhli) without any fringes on its tail. The tail has fleshy fringes all around it but it is completely round and smooth along the perimeter instead of being serrated. Has anyone seen this before? I am wondering if it is possibly a subspecies or just a morphological variant.

Thanks,
Andrew

I think when P. kuhli regenerate their tails, they lack the fringes. I've had a number of individuals come in as WC adults with varying proportions of smooth/fringed tails.
