Sharing the love

Yesterday, I had the chance to take my collection of pythons to our local elementary school and share them with my fourth-grade daughter's class. I tell you, there's nothing more gratifying about this hobby than to share snakes with others--especially KIDS. Those children were curious, full of great questions and entirely respectful. Only one of them expressed some fear, and by the end of the day she wanted to help me carry them back to my car.

They are the future of herpetoculture, and they are excited about it!

It makes me realize that, among all the other reasons why we should be fighting against junk legislation, we should be doing it for the kids who deserve to inherit this great hobby from us someday. If we want to pass it on, we've got to fight tooth and nail to preserve it.

Share your snakes with others. It'll remind you of why keeping reptiles is the coolest hobby out there. Then, please do your part to defend the privilege of keeping them.

I did it years ago. They were talking about locomotion and how animals moved. It went well. Except that one kid who kept on trying to squeeze the boa
