Bar Necks Locked Up!

vegasbilly Dec 19, 2009 05:10 PM

Saw this today! I know alot has to progress but still a very, very cool sight! New male I got a month ago..only 7' long but was producing sperm plugs for the previous owner. 11' female. Curious as to thoughts of separating them after they're done and reintroducing the male after say a week's time to keep things "fresh"? To think I was entertaining thoughts of trading these..guess they made up my mind for me. Excuse the pile in the corner in the pic..was going to feed them (and clean while they were preoccupied) but obviously I passed! Thanks to Bill Hughes for the new male....he's small but obviously very game..(for those who know me we share the exact same name..how wierd is that? LOL).

My Mol's have locked up 4 times now, I separate them after they are done and the male is over in the corner smoking a cigarette and she is raiding the fridge. Then I put them back together after they both eat and digest for a couple days, so I do a every 4 to 5 day rotation and they have locked up every time. So that is just what I do, I know allot of people keep them together all the time, I am sure that works to, I just see the lock when I move them in and out.

Is that you Phil? I didn't recognize the handle at first! I'm the BH from Vegas that has purchased many a rodent from you. Remember the Mangroves I had once when I stopped by for a pick-up? Now 7' long and breeding like crazy! If we both end up w/successful clutches we'll have to talk.

Will do! Right after I took that pic the male (closest to the wall) reared up and came all the way across the turf and bit me in the leg! Usually they are just defensive in their aggression, 1st time one was coming forward like that! Not safe to "handle" at all..BTW I have 16 Mangroves now of various ssp.
