Appropriate Cage for Tokay Gecko

montypython_42 Dec 20, 2009 02:52 AM

I have an extra cage that I am just itching to fill! I've always wanted a tokay gecko and would love to get one but the cage that I have available is 2x2 but only 12 inches tall. I know they love to climb so I'm worried that 12 inches is just to short even though it does have a good amount of floor space... Any opinions? If a tokay gecko is out of the question do you have any other recommendations? I already have leopard geckos : )

I wouldn't say it's out of the question for one Tokay but it would be better to have a more vertically oriented cage. How about using it on its side?

The cage has two different sections, my leopard geckos are in the bottom section and they wouldn't appreciate me turning the cage on it's side : )

IMHO a height of 120 cm should be the very minimum. Still thats only 4 x the length of a tokay. Not much climbing height.
I personally use 175 and 210 cm tall cages for my tokays.
