I haven't posted hear on a while but Geryon is gone. He went through a third bout of RI despite changes in husbandry this summer. I don't think he may have completely got over it just supressed it despite receiving, Pipercillin, Baytril, and Fortaz.
It had been cultured by one vet as a resisitant form of Pseudomonas and I don't think anyhting was going to kill it off completely.

We shared so many talks about him in emails, I feel as though I knew him so very sad, I know how much he suffered and how much you TRIED , over and over again. He's cool now running with all the others that have since left us.

These guys are much more fragile I believe than many other lizards I keep. As much as I LOVE them, they can be very tough at times to get over those bouts of sickness.

Just remember you tried everything! Very sorry!

I second what Eve said. We all know how hard you tried to help the little guy! Collareds are fragile, so you did better than most would have and I know that he had a good life in between.

but, thank you. Not only for treating him as a legitimate animal and accepting responsibility even when it was very inconvenient, but thank you for trying because someday one of MY lizards may need a vet who knows what to do about that strain, and the fact that one more good doctor is familiar with it may help speed things toward a solution. I think the second hardest thing about being a reptile vet is that they often have so little information to work from, because most owners aren't out there trying, so the system is sorely lacking in data. (The hardest thing, I would assume, is not beating those owners who don't give a damn to death with a shovel, but that's a whole 'nother subject...)
