Swollen Hemipenis Bulges

SGcvn69 Dec 26, 2009 10:07 PM

On Xmas eve I was showing my BIL my leo and we noticed he was bleeding. Pinky's hemipenis bulges were swollen. He's 5 and hasn't had a mate in 2-2.5 years at least and lives alone. Tonight, it looked like the skin between the hemipenis bulges and the vent area had split. I have been giving him Cephalexin once a day. He has the right temps, moist hide, water bowl, and eats supers. He is on paper towels as a substrate and has a piece of sandstone in his 10 gal cage. He is in the middle of a shed at the moment.

Here is a head on shot:

Here is a angled pic to see his vent better: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/LpYebg9oRl7GLMoUdsp6hw?feat=directlink

The e-vets on call this weekend aren't familiar with reptiles so I am SIOL until Monday. If you have any ideas I would really welcome any feedback!

He has a lot of stuck shed on him, he needs a nice soak or two ho help get that stuck shed off. It appears he has an infection and needs a visit to the vet asap

Been soaking him for the shed....he's always had problems shedding no matter the humidity. Did help him out tonight. Looks much better than in the pic now. No fresh blood, but his bulges are still swollen. Will call the vet tomorrow since they are finally open.
