My Blood Python

burnsje7 Jan 02, 2010 02:04 AM

I have been reading this forum for a while but have never posted. I just got my first blood python (Python Brongersmai) from a local breeder and thought I would show her off. If I had to classify her further I would say she was a "yellow". Let me know what you think.

I wouldn't consider her a yellow. I have a male that when he was about two years he was a dirty butterscotch color but now he is ten years old he is a much darker brown. I wonder if your female will darken with age

I realize that she is not a high or extreme example of a yellow. It just seemed to me like she has a lot more yellow and brownish orange than anything. She actually will turn 5 this spring. I wonder how much her colors will continue to change? I guess only time will tell. I am sure I will like her either way.

This animal is almost 5 years old?

What's it weigh and how long is she?

burnsje7 Jan 04, 2010 07:36 PM

5 1/2 feet and 20 lbs.

I forgot to mention that those sizes are approximate. She actually is at least 5 and 1/2 feet long and around 20lbs. If you would like a visual cue/ size reference the tub in the picture below is a tad over 2 feet across. It is a 70 quart Sterilite from Target.

I recognize this animal.

The guy you got him from is one of the good guys!

Yes! I think it will work out nicely to live near him and Animal Plastics is only 15 minutes away too.
