Lets see your largest garters...

mattcbiker Jan 03, 2010 05:38 PM

I used to keep checkered garters as my first snakes years ago. They were a really nice breed, easy to handle, never musked or striked, and ate mice really easily. Unfortunately the last one I had escaped while I was out, and my dad caught it and put it in my eastern kingsnake's cage. Had a fat kingsnake when I came home! That was 10 years ago.

I'd like to see how large some garters can get. Thanks

here's a couple pics I took last winter.... the black one is my melanistic eastern, 43" long, and the florida blue is 38" long. I took them like this to make them loook real big after some bozos posted pics of huge rattlers that were not so huge, just held out on a hook so they looked bigger....

I reckon the "Florida style" Eastern is over three feet.

I like its fat head. Looks like it could pound some toads!

Here is a female eastern that I found and released this past summer. She was HUGE. GIGANTIC. ENORMOUS. I didn't have anything to measure her with so I photographed her with a typical sized adult female eastern that you would find there and then with a fully grow red bellied snake. The tree stump in the first picture was just under 3' in diameter.

here's the other pic

mattcbiker Jan 06, 2010 06:55 PM
