Chuckwallas Oustide

I started looking into chucks and was wondering how hard they would be to keep outside in Las Vegas. Would this be feesible to keep them outside all year round? Would it be best to bring them in or let them brumate outside? I know people in Las Vgeas keep desert toutises outside and build them burrows. Bringing them in would be no problem, I would just build a cage on wheels or something like that. I am just in the research phase and gathering all the information I can. Thanks for reading.

I would try to collect some lizards from the northern part of the range then by you so they are acustomed to the cooler weather. I wish I had that option!

I would prefer to get a captive bred pair or trio from this area. I am really horrible at finding anything, but if it comes down to collecting a pair, I may have to.

Just saw some NV cb chucks for sale in the lizard classifieds.

I do not see the add anymore. I must have missed it.

WC adults (especially males) can be challenging to acclimate to captivity; they are also challenging, yet fun to catch! Wild hatchlings and juveniles are more rarely seen but would acclimate better. CB will make the best pets/display animals.

Ken, I hatched 4 babies this last year, that are about 5 months old and doing great. They are from parents that are from the Arizona originally. One I will be keeping for my nephew. If you are interested in the other 3 shoot me an e-mail at Traviswrf1983@yahoo.com and we can talk. Travis

I've successfully kept Chuckwallas and Desert Iguanas in LV outside year round since 2000. My enclosure has a burrow I created (similar to a Desert Tortoise burrow) but Chucks and DI's will also dig their own given the opportunity.

Thank you for the response. I plan on getteing CB chuckwallas once I find them. I really like the enclsure you have. I plan on doing something similar.

How many chucks are living in that enclosure?
