African Dwarf Frog - NEED HELP!

FuulieQ Jan 12, 2010 10:23 PM

I bought an ADF about half a week ago, and I'm not sure if he's been eating. In fact, I can see his little hip bones, which is really distressing. The people I bought him from said he'd just eat the food the fish were eating, but from my observation that isn't the case. What should I feed him? I'm going to the store tomorrow, so please help!!!

they eat freeze dried or live blood worms most pet stores sell them. there are also pelleted foods for aquatic frogs

Okay,

I went out and bought frozen blood worms, and he vacuumed those up like a little pig. Are those good enough for him? Or should I find something else to give him along with those?

Thanks for the help.

Hymenochirus curtipes prefers a varied diet of frog pellets and live blackworms or tubifex. They also seem to like to live in small groups.

PLEASE get in the habit of learning Latin names--it will help you get info. If your petshop has it, buy "Popular Amphibians" by Philippe des Vosjoli--it has a whole section on these.

Have fun

You mean on this forum? On all the other ones I've been, it's been the opposite, people generally shorten the whole anglicized name to just ADF.

But if it helps, I'll try to learn the spelling.

Thank you!

You have a point; dart frog keepers always write "pdf"...

I still recommend you find des Vosjoli's book "Popular Amphibians" which has a section on dwarf clawed frogs.

It actually sounds interesting, I'll see if I can hunt down a copy. Thanks!
