Heating when theres no power

MsPony Jan 20, 2010 11:02 AM

I posted a similar thing in the KS forum, but this question is about Leos.

I have two leos, I got them skinny and we have been working hard on getting their weight up, so I wouldnt call them in perfect health because they do need more fat.

Do I need to be concerned if the power goes out and their heating pads go off for an extended amount of time? As stated in the other forum, I will be going up north with the horses either tomorrow or Friday, depending on weather, and the Leos will stay with my younger brother. I dont live in snowy cold weather, but it is getting down into the 50s here.

It really depends on the length of time they go without heat and how cold it gets. They are cold blooded so it is imperitive they get heat from some source. GL

Actually, I was told you can use hand warmers. Those little packs that you stick in your pockets. Just make sure they're not able to touch the surface of them.

I suggest using hot hand packs. They get plenty warm enough and last for a few hours. And the are also inexpensive. just stuff put one in a sock or just cover it with something, or just monitor the temp. Youll be good to go.
