Hello all,

my first post on this forums so a quick introduction. Name is Tom, 30 years old and living in Ostend, Belgium.
I'm keeping reptiles from the age of nine, and have had a lot of different species. Currently keeping Brachylophus, Dipsosaurus, Uroplatus, Corallus and Chondro's.

Allways been fascinated by Candoia, but when I found some for sale, they allways were ill looking imported animals. But last week, I finally saw an add for a 5 year old long time captive pair of Candoia bibroni australis. So I mailed him right away and went to his house the day after to see if they were indeed nice and healthy animals. And luckily, they were stunning. I fell in love immediatly.

So I guessed you all also like to see some pics, so here is my new pair:

Hi and welcome! Beautiful looking animals.

I'm keeping the closely related Candoia bibroni bibroni, and your photos look SO much like my snakes. Can you post any details of length / weight / age? I'm trying to pick up as much information as possible.

What are you feeding them?

Hey Helen,

I'm moving them to my snake-room next week. Will make better pics then and will measure and weight them then. They are both about 5 years old. WC, so no exact data on that.

Picking up a Candoia bibroni bibroni (Vanuta locality) myself also in april. Has to come from Sweden and I'm from Belgium, so have to wait till a reptile expo somewhere in the middle for both of us.

Here is a quick picture from the C.b.b. 2 months till I can bring him home...

And some more pics of my female:

And seeing that you are from Fiji yourself, as a bonus, my other Fiji lizards. Really love those little fellows.

Nice - not often you see people keeping Fiji reptiles (except in Fiji!).

I'm sure you know the Fiji iguanas are quite rare - not that they are particularly rare here, just that it's a small country. A third species has just been identified and now herpetologists are suspecting that each of the larger Fijian Islands may have their own species. If you Google "Nature Fiji" you'll get to our local conservation organisation which is looking at this.

I'm very interested in the pattern on that Vanuata C.b.bibroni, and would love to see more photos, especially of the belly. Your C.b.australis looks a lot like snakes from the Fijian island of Taveuni (diamond/zigzag back pattern) while the ones from other Fijian islands are more blotchy. Snakes on Viti Levu (the main island) seem to have a black belly stripe.

Any belly shots of your snakes?
