Minnesota Garter Snake?

enzirufishu Jan 30, 2010 07:05 PM

Howdy, I joined this site a looooooong time ago, but haven't been active for years until I recently got into snakes.

Anyway this happened when I was a lot younger, so sorry I don't have pictures. I was house-boating with the family in Northern Minnesota (Rainy Lake) and attempted to go crocodile hunter on a snake I saw. It was marked like a garter snake, but was a pale green with yellow stripes. I've looked on the internet, but all the garters I've seen are a darker green. It was also a lot larger than any garters I've seen... at least 4 feet long.

Long story short, I got bit by the thing and it got away. Probably a silly thing to attempt when you're miles away from civilization.

Thanks!
