Tail rattling in sand boas...

CBH Feb 04, 2010 12:24 PM

Hey all,

I have recently picked up a few sub-adult snow kenyans and one of them is a super high stress animal. Today when I went to feed her, she rattled her tail. I have never observed this in sand boas, but know it is common in many other species of snake. Anyone ever observe this in Eryx ??

I've noticed waving in a few, never a full on rattle though. I would think the tail is too stocky to even pull such a feat. Interesting none the less.

It wasn't the same speed rattle as say a ratsnake or bullsnake, but it wasn't simply a wave or two either. She wasn't happy....
