dwarf and super dwarf crosses?

spmoberl Feb 05, 2010 01:53 PM

I am considering adding a dwarf or super dwarf into my breeding, and am curious how it plays out when these are crossed with a regular retic. Are 1/2 the offspring normal size and 1/2 dwarf/super or is it more of a somewhere in between outcome with all offspring being smaller than the regular retic? How would you label an offspring from a mixed breeding? Any help is appreciated.

SD x mainland should be labled as SD crosses
SD x with any jamp blood should be represented as Superjamps

Plus its always nice to know the percentage of the crosses such as 50%SD/50% Normal(or like my SuperJamps 50%SD/25%Jamp/25%mainland).

If you cross SD's with mainland retics the offspring will generally be smaller than the normal and bigger than the SD. The size is also somewhat influenced depending which one is the sire/dame (if the dame is the SD stays a bit smaller than the other way around)

Thank you very much for the information.

I may try to put some albino superdwarf into a stock of sunfire albino tiger combos, but for the time being, we'll see how things go. It is a time of unprecedented uncertainty for all breeders of the great snakes.
