Tom, someone posted here looking for Black white-lips. Did you see it?
Nevermind, I just scrolled down...lol
How do you keep your Boelens from messing their faces up with the shavings? I moved to newspaper after having to remove shavings from the mouths of mine several times.

Thanks all!
Doug, I have not had a problem with the group that I have. I am careful when feeding and either feed on newspaper or on the cardboard hide. Was the probelem you had during feeding times?
Not always from feeding times. I've had them on newspaper since, so no big deal. I was surprised at how they would get aspen stuck in their gums. The first two times I thought it was a fluke. Third times a charm I guess.

Dude!!! Great stuff, break the code on the black pythons so we can all have some one day!!!

Doug, what sized cages were they in? Were they plowing through it and getting it in their mouths while cruising? Mine don't burrow or rub much so besides feeding, which can be very active, I can't see mine getting a mouth full. I know when they were all small I was warned about such issues but with my group I have not seen any problems. When they were hatchlings I used paper due to the damp frozen thawed pups.
Jason, I think everyone that has them is trying hard! The breeding part is the easy part! I am also trying to build up a decent sized breeding group. It's the space and money that's also hard!

God those are amazing looking snakes!!! I know everybody that has breeding sized pairs gets activity it seems but you are one of the guys that seems to get it done with the harder to breed snakes. Maybe you can actually get fertile eggs that hatch. Didn't somebody get fertile eggs that all died but had little squiggles of babies inside when they did?? I know I won't be able to afford a CB pair anytime soon but man I would be working hard to figure out some way to get them anyway. Shoot it took a couple years of drooling at your white lips to pick up a pair (they are doing awesome by the way!!) but I was buying BHP's during those years. Get it done and I will get creative...

They've been in 6 x2 cages for several years now. I didn't have the issues when they were young. It was actually just the male and he may have done it trying to get to the female or something. Not that it's any real big deal. I've switched to paper which means they get an entire cage cleaning at least once a week. It's forced me to spend more time with them which is alright.
The male is in a 6x2 cage these days. The female is in a 4x3 that's a bit more spacious and allows for better heating and ventilation. She seems more concerned about that stuff.
It was interesting how my pair were just crazy about breeding followed several weeks later by the female inverting followed by.... zippo.
Getting closer.
