Nat Geo "Python Wars"

norajohn Feb 11, 2010 09:32 AM

If anyone would like to post a comment to Nat Geo on their hatchet job of a program that aired the other night "Python Wars" here is the link. It's a real let down to see that Nat Geo has succumbed to yellow journalism, and hysterical hype to get viewers to watch their show.
The greatest story of the Burmese in the Everglades would be for a real journalist to find. It would be a story of scientific greed and misrepresentation as well as government overreaction and government agencies seeking to grow their authority. Maybe one day a real journalist will actually try and find the great story that is hidden in all this.

The sad thing is, I wish these things could be done without the "yellow' journalism so that they could focus on whether or not the feral pythons are a real ecological problem.

I believe that they are a real threat to Southern Florida, but not so sure that they can establish anywhere else that has freezing winter weather.
