Anyone have photos inside mouth / teeth?

helenthereef Feb 15, 2010 04:18 PM

Odd request time - I want to put some educational information together to try and show the local Fijian population that Candoia do not have fangs (Locals kill or "Defang" them whenever encountered).

Does anyone have clear photos of Candoia teeth or inside of mouths showing that they are NOT like rattlesnakes? You'd have to be wiling to let me use them in Fijian newspapers, on websites and maybe posters.

Many thanks

Managed to get a nice yawning shot of a BCI, all gums, so I'm doing OK. Would be nice to get a real Candoia though, if there are any out there....

I have the camera next to my Candoia vivs, so I'll try to snap a yawning shot. No luck yesterday, maybe today.

Hi Matt,

I guess if I still can't tell if she's gravid 4 months after mating she probably isn't right? Or maybe it's still my inexperience.

She's back with me at the moment as her owner is away - she's still eating regularly and is just getting ready to shed. She's thick bodied, and simply feels much more solid than my other snakes, but she's so much bigger than my others to start with, so I can't tell if she's gravid or chunky.

Also as she's a bit snappy I only ever handle her the day after a good meal..... At what point do they fast if they are gravid? Is regular eating a definite sign of NOT being pregnant?

Hi Helen,

In my experience you would notice if she was gravid by now, take a couple of pictures of her with the whole body in proportionate view if you can...

My female fed all the way through gestation, it's more down to the individual.

Cheers Matt
