Fasting when Gravid?

Doug T Feb 15, 2010 08:43 PM

I've got a pair of beadeds which appear by all counts to be a true male/female pair. Both are robust and hearty.

The one I believe is a female has been fasting for a couple of months now. In fact tonight she refused to eat. I offered the leftovers to the "male" who gobbled them down.

Do Beadeds tend to fast when they have eggs developing?

Love to hear some opinions.

I cannot answer your question but I dig the photo!

Best of luck with her.

My female ate untill she was within a month of laying. If the animal in the photo is the female she doesn't appear gravid. It's pretty easy to tell, they appear to have eatten a huge rat!

She doesn't look like she's eaten a rat so might just be she doesn't want more food.

Thanks!
