history of morphs in burms

amazondoc Feb 22, 2010 12:15 AM

I posted this link in another thread, but it's kinda buried down the page -- and it's very interesting reading, so I thought I'd repost it up here where more people would notice it:

http://www.bobclark.com/a03_96.asp

According to Bob Clark:

1. the first captive bred albino burms were hatched in 1986.
2. the first captive bred patternless green hatched in 1987.
3. the first captive bred labyrinths in 1989.
4. the first granites were brought from Thailand in 1996.

I think it's fascinating that the first three morphs were bred in such rapid succession.

I remember Albino Burms being the first boid morph I ever saw. Of course I couldn't afford my first one until 93 or so.

Wonder how things would have been different if the morph python craze had been started with that road killed pied ball python from the 50's. I think there was also a leucistic Indian python from back then that apparently didn't breed (not to mention the leucistic burm from the 80's that didn’t produce, suppose they'll ever find another?).

I remember hearing of someone (maybe Bob Clark?) that saw a skin of an albino African Rock Python, in Africa. Imagine that! That would sure make people more interested in owning/working with Afrocks.

Sorry for the slow reply, its been 15 years! In the meantime, I've hatched the first albino African rock pythons.

then you get the co-dom hypos bred around 01-02 and their supers soon after and the t positive from 08 and the butterscotch from 09. Alot of cool burm morphs around.

The custom of farm raised babies in Burms, Bloods and Balls has led to a larger group of babies being born overseas, then culled for morphs. Not as much for Burms nowadays, but for sure w/Balls and Bloods.
