i wouldnt breed it to a cal king, but thats just me. i dont like the cal king influence. it tends to brown out a dilute other colors. id breed the anery to a corn or (im assuming its a honduran) breed it to another honduran!
what i wouldnt do is breed it to another milk. it makes trying to identify that they are hybrids very difficult.

yeah im hesitant too id rather wait till i got a better match like a hybino hondo im just to ready to have a clutch

Ready to have a clutch is no reason to produce worthless snakes, even hybrids. Not all hybrids are worth a toot. If you are going to hybridize, at least do it with a purpose for an anticpated end product, not to just get a bunch of babies. Not trying to rag on you or burst your bubble. Just do it conscientiously and for a reason.

I would be VERY leary using a smaller male with larger female cal king. I have never produced hybrids, but I understand cal king females can be uber aggressive and kill and eat male cal kings during breeding efforts. This is something I will have to pay attention to next year when my pair of black and white cal kings are ready to breed. If the snakes were not brumated and the female is not ready to produce or feel "Love in the Air", this effect may be more dramatic and she may just view the smaller male hondo as lunch!!! My advice in dealing with hybridizing snake eating species is to make sure they were conditioned to breed (and are old/big enough to breed), and use a larger male. I have also heard that to get hybridization to occur between two different species, you may have to get the pair you plan to breed ready with other mates of like kind. In other words, get the male hondo in the mood with a female hondo, and the female cal king in the mood with a male cal king. Then when they are almost ready to breed, switch them up and put the pair you want to breed together. Your female may be large enough, but the male hondo seems kind of small. How old and large are the animals?

i have went through everything i know to get to pair to breed, i just think the cali is ready and the hondo needs a a few more weeks for some close freinds that the hondo might take a little longer to be ready 1 or 2 more sheds. but the cali has stoped feeding an before she would'nt stop but thanks for the input an i will let everone know how it goes>>>>>

The female not feeding in breeding season is NOT a good sign at all. Usually the males quit feeding cause they got mating on the brain. The females usually feed alot to get weight on for egglaying. Are you sure you got the male and female right in this equation? Is it possible the female bred a few weeks ago and may be gravid? The females usually refuse food after mating later down the road when the eggs develop and they just dont have room for big meals. They either stop feeding at that point, or only take smaller meals. It sounds like you have friends near by to discuss this with and actually look at your animals to determine if they are ready or not, properly sex, etc. My advice is to get them involved a bit more.

well the female ate just last night an after i gave her some time to digest i reintroduced them an she was all over him, they cuddeled for a bit then to male just lost intrest ithink im going to wait till he sheds one more time \thats real some then ill go at it again but i wont push it i want it to be done right for my first hybrid

Man, if the "female" cal king was all over the "male" hondo, it REALLY sounds as if the sexes are mixed up here. Seriously, get those snakes properly sexed by someone who knows what they are doing!! Even big name breeders, etc. mess up on sexing animals and it never hurts to double check when you get the chance. Females NEVER approach and try to entice the males to breed in my experience. Its usually the male that slithers over and around the female to get her going. You are possibly going into bad territory that could jeopardize the hondo if its female and bred too young/small!!

My advice when breeding any snake that eats other snakes is to feed it well shortly befor atempting breeding. With my female kings I give them a big meal (as many mice as they want) so that there is no way they should be the least hungry befor breeding. I also do the same with male kings thow they are less likely to canabalize. Most males will choose a mating over a meal.
