Housing Tegus...

atldragons Feb 24, 2010 10:09 AM

I just purchased a Tegu from a friend and wanted to know about their housing circumstances. We have all the proper lighting, for which we use on our beardies....

But as far as housing more than 1 in an enclosure, is that possible?? I know they are carnivorous so I didnt know if that would lead to cannibalism?

Some people house more than one tegu in an enclosure, but you need to watch for signs of fighting, and provide adequate space so both can bask and obtain UV. I'm sure cannibalism can be a possibility if a baby tegu is housed with a hungry adult. It is rare with two equally sized animals.
