Emerald pairings and melanism

PhilippeLamarre Feb 26, 2010 03:53 PM

Hey guys, i'd like to present to you my pair of emeralds .
Here's the male :

Here's the female :

And here's the two of them together :

I'm pretty sure that the female has already ovulated and now, they're still together but never close to each other. Haven't seen any matings this season though...

I was wondering, do you guys know how melanism carries on? If i do produce babies, i have no clue at all of if they will have it in them or not, since when i got my male, he was totally red without a single dot of black...

we really need some melanistic Northerns to add
some excitement.

I got my melanistic male from a local importer about 5 years ago. It was a tiny red baby and there was not a single sign of anything related to melanism at all. It all developped in the past years and it seems to be getting darker every day .

Who's Mike?

Mike Clark had a male that looked very much like yours which he also picked up as a normal newborn.
