a nile croc that my friend owns has a sore on his back and he says it is a burn from its heat lamp but im not so sure can anyone tell me what this is thanks

I can't see the pic but is likely the result of using one powerful heat lamp to provide a hot basking spot for a bigger croc. This is COMMON both in crocs and lizards. One bulb is fine with crocs 18" or under in size BUT when trying to provide heat for crocs that are 3' or bigger you need a BANK OF PAIRED HEAT LIGHTS. For instance a 3' croc would need at least 4 lights with all 4 side by side otherwise the poor croc sits under one light day after day and only a part of his body is heated [usually the same spot] until a severe burn occurs
that can lead to infection and death. In other words the croc is slowly roasting his own body in an effort to warm up his entire body which with one lamp isn't possible. I don't understand why it's difficult to see this happening immediately yet this is an extremely COMMON OCCURANCE with lizards and crocs. This needs to be corrected immediately in order to save the crocs life..thanks
