Dude,

Could you PLEASE be more specific as to what you are talking about?

As a CA resident and a keeper of Russians and cornsnakes, I'm sure I do care about what it is you are trying to get across, but your post is essentially meaningless.

School me on this: What is going on, and why should I be concerned about it?

Dude, I'm directing you to "THE LAW FORUM" What is so sense-less about that? GOOD GRIEF CHARLEY BROWN! EVERYONE knows that the 4" Turtle law from our good friends at the Federal Gov.includes tortoises,so it "makes sense" that they could be lumped together here too. When I asked a under cover Federal agent (in a purple dress) that just flashed a badge in my face at a reptile expo about this she said agents would not know turtles from tortoises, so they were included in a ban on water turtles being sold under 4". Many times adults at the air cargo counter ask, what is a tortoise, when they see my box marked LIVE TORTOISE. This happened so much I mark them all "baby turtles" now. your pics always give me YARD ENVY! (maybe a little mountain tortoise envy too in there somewhere...?)

speaking of shipping box labeling... my redfoot arrived as a wee month-old baby in a box labeled "live harmless reptile." knowing how some people could feel about the "r-word" ("OH MY GAWD IT MIGHT BE A SNAAAAAKE!", i'd almost be afraid to use it myself, in case someone heard a noise inside, freaked out and dropped it or something out of an irrational fear response. at least "turtles" are generally perceived as slow and therefore pretty harmless.

Yes I think I would put live baby turtles on any box that had herps. They do have the alllllll effect. That and "how do they get air?" "Dont they need water?" The bessybody's in the store. My yard! Yep, big black humps everywhere. Of cource there's always the days of luging 80 lb bags of grass seed,or the mud,and the Cottonmouths. But at the end of the day,its worth it. Except when the rain washes the seeds away, then the mud again, then the heat kills the secound seeding. But you just "do it again" "do it again". Maybe a one man reallity show here! Vic
