6ft Conda Need to Ship

rottenweiler9 Mar 08, 2010 07:02 PM

Hello,

I have checked out the ship your reptile website, and my snake is outside the range of shipping. He is thicker than 4inch and a little longer than the 5ft. How do you go about this. Do I get a box, insulated myself and take it to the airport to ship? I saw they had 6 boxes at one point through ship your reptiles but now I see they are down to 5. Any thoughts how I can ship to CA from IL.

Thank you

We have always had 5 box sizes at SYR, you haven't missed any.

The problem with those larger, heavier bodied snakes is that they can break through or damage regular boxing and packaging. Double boxing may be necessary, or even wood crating, as you get closer to 8 ft.

As for shipping, the regular commercial carriers like UPS and FedEx are not viable options for larger snakes. Delta Air Freight ("Delta Dash" is the appropriate choice.

With Delta though, you have to be an approved shipper with a Delta account, you can't just walk in off the street and ship live reptiles. Check with your local reptile stores and breeders for someone with a Delta account that may be willing to do the shipment for you.

Shipping an animal that size is not cheap either, expect to pay over $100 for the shipping.

Best of luck.
