First Ever Leo hatched

shaunroberson Mar 10, 2010 05:27 PM

My first ever Leo hatched out last night - I was surprised to see her out of the egg already when the egg hadn't even slit yesterday morning - I guess they don't hang out in there like colubrids tend to do.

She is from a HCT and a Tangerine Bell albino - I'm trying to figure out if she is hypo or not. Not having hatched leos out before, I'm not as sharp with what the differences are as hatchlings, but she looks lighter than most normals I've seen, so I'm wondering if the Bell is het hypo or something. Will be easier to tell once she sheds I guess. What does everyone think?

im no pro, but in my experience the hypo is something that comes on with good temps and age. As it ages the solid black becomes spread out more and more until it becomes spotted, or not spotted in the case of a hypo.

Your little guy looks very much like my first Hypo hatchling.

Thanks to all for the responses. She is tearing up 1/2" crickets and has noticably grown already. The bands are already fading out a little into distinct brown/black parts - I'll have to post new pics sometime.
