I don't keep any of the current species that will be affected, but if I did I'd still sure as hell keep them and do as I please. Do you think the DOI has enough agents to keep up with every kid bringing a Boa constrictor across state lines? LOL

I really wonder if they think before they think of this horsecrap.

What they will do is "bust" some of the larger dealer/breeders and that will scare the rest of them out of business. It's called "selective law enforcement." Can be pretty effective.

If you go back to the bible the gist of genesis is god created everything and put man in the garden of eden and told him you can eat any fruit in this garden EXCEPT this one. So what does man do? Prohibition didn't work for god and our arrogant govt. thinks it will work for them. We spend trillions of dollars fighting a war on drugs that we have lost. Right here in Fl just last week the cops bragged about how they made this big drug bust they arrested 41 drug dealers and it put a "BIg dent in the drugs available on the street" blah blah blah blah blah. Somehow in spite of this big dent the put in the drugs my drummer showed up at practice last week strung out on mushrooms. I haven't smoked pot in years and I will guarantee you that with a few phone calls I could have a bag of weed within an hour (I live in the country an hour away from everywhere, if I was into that scene the time would drop to about 15mins.) We all know the war on drugs is an absolute failure. We also know what idiots are involved in the drug trade.
We are not idiots the very nature of our hobby demands that any of us who are serious about it have intelligence. Look at the Government researchers involved in the python studies right now. You guys know how much less intelligent they are compared to a lot of us involved in this hobby. So the government who CAN'T properly educate your children, CAN't properly build roads, CAN'T find a glorified goat farmer in Afghanistan who keeps flipping us the bird, CAN'T even figure out how to get OUT of Afghanistan (or Iraq) CAN'T protect our borders and totally CAN'T win the war on drugs is going to take us down with much less money than they spend on anything else is going to take all our snakes?
Yeah I'm buying that one.

You guys need to understand...put your beer goggles on and play the game. Someone has to control someone...so they make these funny little rules so they can act like they are in charge...and most of the ignorant are happy because govermnt is looking after them...and the rest of us...well we just do what we do!!!lol.

I think if the bill passes, everyone breeding those species should send a few offspring or breeders to their senators and congressman.

Annulata Mar 15, 2010 12:59 PM

You have to fight fire with fire. Right now, we're getting our asses kicked in the PR department...and the gap is quickly widing. Sen. Nelson lied before Congress and he should be held accountable. We need to get more people filing ethics complaints against him. I did...has anyone else?

I only have a couple pairs of striped colombian boas-if/when they are added to the "Invasive" list, I guess I'll just breed them for the in-state and export market.

I see this country heading toward the "greek model"-the saying in Greece is "They pretend to govern us, and we pretend to pay taxes"...

If they are added to the lacy act, no exports.

brhaco Mar 16, 2010 08:36 AM

Lacey Act only applies to IMPORTS-exports are perfectly fine.

Everything ive ever heard on the lacey act is no import export or interstate transport. it makes sence since to export you need to in most cases transfer the animal across state lines to an airport that has international flights.

brhaco Mar 17, 2010 08:27 AM

Check out the regs themselves-export is perfectly legal, as long as you don't have to send the animal across state lines to do it. Luckily, we can export directly from Texas. Those in Florida, NY, CA etc are also in luck-otherwise you would need a USFWS permit to send your animals to an export point.

So then yes, unless you live in one of 3 states then your not able to export. (ny already bans 8 of the 9 speicies that would be affected).
