Any ideas what kind of salamander this is? It was found in SC near Santee State Park

I am taking a guess with the picture, Its kinda hard if you had a few pics it would make it easier. Like one of the side and top. I would say its a Ocoee Dusky Salamander

It's a dusky for sure, but Santee State Park is not in the range of D. ocoee. I would say Desmognathus auriculatus, the southern dusky.

I agree with iggirl1, better photos would be helpful, but I'd call that a Dusky Salamander. They generally are about 4 inches in total length and commonly found under rocks around the edges of creeks.

They tend to like the muck! Also I have seen Dusky's use both back legs together in kind of a hop, something other salamanders generally do not do.
