You are lucky to have a friend that has a zoo and get to see the critters. I always wanted to learn more techniques for handling larger reptiles since some of mine will be quite large. I also like to hear how people up north keep the larger ones especially crocs....

basements.... that's the key.

I don't think most people finish their basements, so you have a concrete floor and walls to work with. Pick your corner and you have a great starting point for an enclosure. There's a guy in Hamilton that built concrete enclosures in his basement. Has a black caiman I believe...

In doors for most of the year is the only way but an extra room works ok it just takes a little more planing to water proof things I keep mine in my 3rd bed room, Let me tell you, you dont get it right the first time my wife was ready to kick all of us out when the big female ripped up her pond 100's of gal all over the house. So the next time I spent alot more money and made it right, These guys are not cheep well not for me. Im not in to fast cars or golf so my hob is reptiles

100's of gallons of water?
How exactly did you explain that one to the insurance company for the claim for all the water damage? lol

Nothing a new floor mold remover and some paint couldent fix and some cash well a lot of cash, I just had the wife do all the labor to save some money, JUST KIDDING hope she doesnt read this lol

I had something not as bad happen. Thought the wife was going to kill me. I use a shop vacuum that has a pump attached to the tank and to a hose and I can pump the water out of the house. Well something wasnt latched right and it busted the lid off and created a suction and emptied the 100 gallon turtle tank all over the floor. Luckly we have natural hardwood floors so most the water flowed through the cracks and into the basement but I had a lot of water to clean up down there and a lot of wet reptile tanks to clean and dry out...

tbone21 Mar 20, 2010 05:15 PM

So my wife is so pissed at me...well taking it better then I thought she would. So I bought a box of 500 adult crickets and brought them home and set the down when the phone rang. It was my dad saying my mom was being taken to the hospital (turned out ended up being kideney stones not being able to be passed). well long story short I wasnt home much this week forgot about them and they chewed a whole through the box and there are crickets everywhere. She hates the bugs wont even touch them lol... Hopefully the cats catch them all or they all die off... I hope they dont survive long cause she is pissed lol.... well I guess an accident like this was going to happen eventually lol... any advice on getting rid of all of them faster?
