I was at the SC Reptile show and I heard a man talking about the venom of the Boomslang and I hope he reads this...He was saying the venom is very weak at best...Well, I hate to tell him this but the venom is not weak..It is very strong venom..The worst for a rear fanged snake and it is even worst then a lot of your cobras..I have worked with Boomslangs and I have seen what there venom can do...any one out there think I am wrong?????

I sure dont! I caught one in South Sudan about 11 years ago in the early evening after a large gathering of natives almost had a riot due to this little guy slithering into the center of where they were sitting (I dont know what it was doing out of the trees but he was hauling to get back to them). We are talking about 500+ people running and screaming like a war party had just arrived to kill them all. I have not seen such fear in people like that in my entire life! They freaked the crap outta me with all that panic! Luckily my translator ran up to me to tell me what was going on and we went and found the little guy and I got him out of there and back into the trees. So while I have not studied or researched the potency of these guys in great detail, I know just by how those people reacted to this snake, that they are absolutely not to be taken lightly.

The very existence of flamethrowers means that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves..."You know, I really want to set those people over there on fire...but I'm just not close enough to get the job done!

Do a little Wiki search on Karl Schmidt, who was killed by a juvenile boomer.
