...about me as a snake owner...
I do not keep my snakes in tubs or "drawers" every snake I have has their own cage suited to their size...
...I dont keep any Pythons or Anacondas(havent since I moved out of my Dads house at age 17) I only have 3 Boas with no plans on breeding or even getting anymore of them...
...it is not about the money for me obviously I love my pets and will defend them till the end...
...as I said before I beleive they should license and regulate the Big 5 I agree with that 100%...
...as for pet owners being responsible for all this let me state this:no one has ever been caught or arrested for dumping reptiles in florida so theres no REAL proof on that, however I beleive it was caused by those bastard wholesalers...
...i dont beleive they should import anymore wild Boas or Pythons as there are enough captive breeding programs to keep us all in snakes for a very long time...
...bottom lines is I love my few snakes as though they were my children they are treated with care and respect and the thout of losing them hurts my heart...

I only keep retics and anacondas
I have an 8'X3.5' for each one
they are not my children, but rather my hobby
i would like to get more and plan on breeding every one
I think importing exotic specimens is great, and believe selective capture is a great ground for preserving a large wild population, as with more individuals you get more unique mutations and just a few animals can be worth more than all the "wild-type" combined

I agree, also, without collecting and imporation, bloodlines would become stail. Us hobbiest take far less animals than the fashion industry.

I understand the hurt that you feel in regard to snakes becoming federally illegal (any species)I am sorry that I did not see this post sooner, in fact I was surprised to find that one day I was on the "burmese pythons" forum. Not that surprising since I used to frequent all of the forums on Ksnake (on a different handle) but I hadn't meant to post here, lol. I think you understand that I was looking for info, I thought hey - look legislation! I'll be danged one of those reticulated dudes (not huge for a retic) put me in the hospital one time bc it was JUST THAT MEAN. However, all I've gotten is very mean remarks and SOME totally viable evidence for the keeping of these snakes. However, I was never out to get the snakes, I just feel that something should be done about "the current state of snakes in the pet industry [in general]" --- you can quote that. I was never intending to shoot you down, and I'd love to see one of those boas in person some day. I'm not a snake-hater but rather some damn radical who wants the pet trade to not make a nasty taste in the mouth of... well everyone but fish people!

If my temper got away from me on THIS SITE I apologize. However, I've looked for different "herp law discussions" and can't really find one anywhere that has a differing opinion, just "band together, if we do we can beat the ban" whereas I feel like the only one saying "what exactly are we trying to stop here? are you SURE that this is only AR groups? are you SURE it's a good pet?"

My experiences with the herp law forum tell me that if they are not, then a LOT of people here are wrong. I don't think they are wrong. I'm glad that you support legislation in some way though because denying something without even thinking about it could be detrimental to the survival of the (whole) pet trade. If we don't give an INCH then the AR groups will take everything we have. If we compromise, we get the gov on our side, AR groups look like A-holes. this is an opinion.
