Hi, I have recently aquired a ball python with a thermal burn from an UTH. The burn is about a month old, he is on a cream and antibiotics. Is there anything else I can be doing for him? Like soaking him? All of the burnt scales are coming off but he is not shedding well with out soaking. (the vet reccomended not soaking him) But I have read about soaking daily in a water and betadine solution the apply the cream. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Curious as to what cream you are using and the name of the antibiotic. Thanks,

Kelly

Burns are a serious compromise to your snake's defenses and hydrostasis. I can only guess that your vet thinks home bathing your snake will add to the risk of infection. The snake will continue to have problems shedding until it is entirely healed and the scars reduced.

Have you discussed continued care with a vet, or are just recieving information from the previous owner?

Ian
