Tiger X normal

CBH Mar 19, 2010 04:13 PM

Anyone working on or completed this cross?

Tiger (part rufescens) to normal...

I just put a nice hold back tiger that is 50% rufescens with a big normal girl.... we will see what happens I guess.

I'm a bit perplexed by this pairing....would you call the resulting litter....normalish? Not sure what you are expecting?

I am interested to see if the crossing produces stripes or other "more" rufescens like individuals... if not, they would be normalish (which is what I usually call the "tigers" anyway).

Has no one ever sent a tiger back to a normal?

I just assumed you could only get stripes from rufescens or stripes.....would be good to rule out.

One of the original (import) rufescen that produced alot of the solid and striped rufescens that we see today, was a very tigerist looking animal. Soooo ??? you never know good luck with that project. what I wanted to see --was tiger to tiger ??

SandBoaMorphs Mar 21, 2010 09:39 PM

I could do a tiger tiger matchup.....what are we hoping to see? I'd expect a whole lot of tigers.

I dont know what might come from that pairing, but we do need to know !!! If it had been a ball python , it would have been paired up at the very first opportunity. My GUESS is some rufescens looking offspring. Maybe nothing-maybe a nice suprise.I dont have any or Id have tried it.

CBH Mar 22, 2010 08:34 AM

Jeff,

I don't have any hold back tiger females otherwise I would give that pairing a try. The tiger male is paired up with a very large female that usually drops 20 or more babies so we ought to have a good sample size to see what happens.

Mark,

If you have a tiger male and female I would try breeding them together. You may get nothing but normalish babies, you might get everything under the rainbow (tigers, stripes, solids/granites).

She's already been in the box with a male rufescen for about a week. I haven't seen any courting, ovulation or anything, yet. What are the chances she's been bred?

I would leave her be.... maybe next year. There is a pretty good chance they already locked up and no easy way to determine the sire of the babies.
