Kenyan feeding problem

john dhont Mar 23, 2010 01:59 PM

Hi, I have 1 1/2 year albino Kenyan sandboa who has always fed very good on live mice. Since about 2 months she refuses to eat. She kills the mouse but don't eat it. A friend of mine has exactly the same problem with another female of the same age. Any some advice on that?
Thanks!

I have 2 anery females that do the same thing everytime. Except I feed them frozen. They take em aggresively off the forceps, wrap em, then leave em. I just offer it to them a second time with the mouse/rat's nose right in front of there face and they take it slowly right on the nose and its over after that. Maybe try them off tongs or forceps once they leave them. Hope this helps.

I see this a lot, especially with females that are at a good (healthy) weight. Try feeding less frequently (once every 2-3 weeks) to see if that helps. If you are dying to get her up to breeding size then repeatedly placing the mouse in front of her face will usually entice her to take it.

Best of luck,
Chris
