Are Bromeliads safe for iguanas?

madwhitehat Mar 23, 2010 06:49 PM

I'm trying to find out if Bromeliads are safe for Iguanas. I haven't seen them on any of the standard "non-toxic" lists. I assume they are ok because I've seen them used in amphibian setups. However, the main difference is that iguanas may try to ingest the plant, whereas dart frogs just live in it. Anyone have any input?

BTW, the species of Bromeliads I'm thinking about are the non spiney variety found in Florida.

????? Huh?

As long as they are pesticide-free, they are 100% safe--and 100% edible. Depending on the size of your iguanas, they will last 15-20 minutes...

Sorry for the tone--I'm a serious bromeliad (and other plant)grower In otehr words, I have NO herbivorous pets!
