Is it possible? My dh is allergic to mice.I do breed a few rats but only indoors.I need mice for my smaller snakes. Can I breed them outside in a shed? I can easily keep them warm in winter but Im worried about the heat in summer?

Heat will kill them before the cold. Then there is the pests....bugs and other vermin getting to and into them. I worked in a pet store that had a vermin problem too and at night the wild rats would come in and chew parts off the caged rats through the bars.(feet and tails mostly) Learned this by staking out the place one week.

So if you can control vermin, bugs and temps over say 78 you could do it.

Some folks run fans on them etc. I personally couldn't imagine how to control the vermin. Handily I have a basement room.

This fall I think I will get a trio or more. Breed the heck out of them all winter in the attic and then be done for the year before the summer heat hits.Im really tired of paying 1.25 for a tiny pinky mouse. They charge the same for a full grown mouse as the pinks.Unfortunately I dont need a huge amount so it doesnt really warrent ordering with the price of shipping it will still all be even.

I breed mice and rats outside in central florida (90 ) with no problem. Keep them in the shade (porch with no direct sun) and keep the number thin. They slow down in august, but there fine.
