Training leo to use mealie bowl

trex8692 Mar 28, 2010 04:00 PM

Im about to go on vacation in the summer and i was wondering, how (if possible) can i train my leo to eat out of a mealworm bowl?

Ive tried luring it over, but it doesnt really work, the mealies arent very active either so.. lol

Fill the bowl with a few extra mealies and put the gecko's face in front of the bowl. Or you can even try putting the gecko halfway in the bowl..

Would it be a problem if i ahve conditioned my leo to eat from tweezers?

Ive tried putting a bunch of mealies in a bowl and putting it in front of the geckos face, but he kinda turns away and ignores it.

Forgot to add..try to eliminate the tweezers completely. As long as it knows the food is present, it will eat, even if it takes a while to adjust. Believe me, they know what to do. Good luck.

I have a pair that were raised on strictly crickets and I wanted to switch them over to mealworms. I just used tough love. They got the point and now I can put about 20 worms in a bowl and they are gone within an hour or 2.

What do you mean?

I can never get my leo to notice the worms in the bowl. Maybe its cause the orms dont move around much, but the leo never really pays attn to the bowl.
