Freezing salamanders for ringneck chow

aquick Mar 29, 2010 12:35 PM

Anyone done this before? It seems to me they would freeze dry very easily and was wondering if there was a trick to preventing this.

Put them in ziplock bags and fill the bags with water so that they are completely encased in ice. This method works well for amphibians and fish also. They will last well over a year if frozen this way. I always used to do with bass I've caught while fishing. I've eaten some 3-4 years after (that I forgot I had in there) and they've always been fine.
