Here are the new arrivals!

I've been a 'silent reader' and rare contributor to this forum on and off over the last seven years (I had a pair of Mali's for seven years and they are now in another wonderful home) but with new baby Uro's, I just wanted to share some pics and I'm sure I'll be asking for some advice along the way too!

This is a pair of baby Bandeds from Doug Dix. They arrived today to our much anticipated excitement! I've had about ten conversation with my little girl (and anticipate a number more) about their need for peace and quiet for awhile as they adjust but it's hard to pull her away from the side of that terrarium anxiously watching for them to appear=). The one we're sure is a female is named 'Sprinkles' and the questionable one we refer to as a 'he' is named 'Salty'..I have no idea where she got that name from!=) They are family pets and we're looking forward to watching them grow and I want to teach my little girl what I know about reptiles and see her enjoy them=). Sprinkles has spent most of her time in the hide away, coming out to check things out once or twice while Salty seems to curious to be satisfied with the hide..he's in and out and checking us out too! They both already seem very sweet and curious and I'm so looking forward to see their personalities and banded patterns develop=).

Have a great week!
Molly

It's likely those two little guys are from the 13 my adult pair had last summer, as I sold a few of them to Doug. You'll enjoy them as they are very personable Uros. If you don't know about this type of Uro, they will eventually grow a bit larger than your typical Mali. It's good to know that they've gone to someone who will take good care of them. Anyway, enjoy and Good luck with them.

Hello!

I'm very excited to see your response as I was asking Doug about details of their origin. He said he purchased them from a breeder that he'd sold a pair of bandeds to. I'd asked him about birth date and if he had pics of the parents but he wasn't sure of the date and did have pics. I have seen the pic of your male banded before so it was fun to find it and show my little girl the pic of Salty and Sprinkles daddy=). Looks like maybe they're almost Independence Day babies so definitely older than I thought=). There isn't much identifying about them except Sprinkles is missing 3 toes and she is the shyer of the two. They both seem so easy going and I'm glad I got them in a pair so they have eachother while they adjust=). I did have concern in getting a male and female but was informed that even if Salty does turn out to be male, that them 'accidentally' breeding should be very very slim...which is good...I have a three year old child and two Uro's now...I don't need anymore babies LOL!

Thanks for responding and I'll post more pics as they grow!=)
