Got a broadbanded tonight!!

KevinM Apr 07, 2010 11:01 PM

Me and a good herping buddy went road cruising tonight due to rain forecasted for tonight and fairly warm temps. First pass down or usual road and nothing. Just light drizzle and sticks on the road LOL. On the way back, found a big broadbanded water, a DOR garter, and a mud turtle. We moved the poor turtle to the side of the road in the direction it was heading in, but I had to bag the broadbanded LOL!! Its pretty big, about 2.5 feet, so I suspect female. Not the prettiest on top, but a real nice orangish checker like belly. It was really hard to tell on a very dark road by flashlight trying to bag a stinky snake and not get hit by any cars that may be approaching LOL!! I will try to post pics tomorrow!!

I have had waters in the past that were kind of bland colored, but after putting uvb on them the colors really came out and were really high contrast. They were southern bandeds. I used 8.0 uvb lighting. Wish you the best of luck with your snake and as always- HAPPY HERPING
