identification of Acanthosaurus sp.

biologen Apr 10, 2010 03:42 PM

Can anyone help me identify this Acanthosaurus? A couple of years ago a friend of mine started a similar thread, to try to identify my animals, but without any conclusions. Now I am trying again. My female laid 7 eggs this afternoon, therefore I would like to know what species I am working with.

Apparently the image does not work, but I have a couple of links to pictures of the animals.

There are some new photos, taken yesterday, in this link http://www.nhf.dk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37627

The first end the last picture is the same animal, the two pictures in-between is the other animal. I dont think the spines in the neck and on the back looks similar in the two animals, could it be two different species? Or do they have a big phenotypic plasticity?

I think that it is two females, at least I now one of them is, she laid 7 eggs the other day. If it is two females, could it be possible for them to store sperm for up to 3 years? It has been 3 years since I bought them, and there has only been these two.
