They don't breed until about 10 years, they are very intelligent, and they bite. They are occassionaly bred in this country, at least by one person. They are also VERY strong.
I know of one pr that did not breed until the male was 15 and the female was 25 years old.Not an instant cash snake by any means.I think that they are a very nice looking python and I would love to see more around. It is the one python that I would love to have some day. There are other pythons that I am interested in but for years I have looked in the classifieds to see if any were around and have only scene them like 3 times an could not afford them.Good luck if you have some of these rare pythons.

I know a german guy, who bred a female papuan at 5 years old. The male was around the same age.
I think the most important issue regarding breeding them, is to find a pair that actually like eachother. Otherwise the smaller one, usually the male, could end up as a meal. They are highly cannibalistic for a python.
I have 2,1 myself. A pair around 2,2 meters and a 3 meter male. I just lost my 3 meter female to unknown reason. Maybe endo parasites. I was a week away from putting them together for breeding

My friend bred them two years ago, and may have some more this year
Jaykis,
Is your friend in the States?
Yes, he's in Fl. Bred and hatched in 07, 08, and has eggs now. Email me and I'll give you his email address. He enjoys talking about what he's done, and I don't think anyone else has has his success.
Jay, are you talking about Butch? He is damned good and I just got his last 3 until this years hatch...He did have some problems with his eggs however this year...thanks

Yes, Tom, it's Butch. He called me today after reading the thread. I moved some for him last year, and I know you got a few. I also think there are two color variations.
Sorry to hear about your lost of your female.
Females will eat males, and other snakes, as well. They like scrubies.
