Unknown Lizard! please help

KingCobra Apr 14, 2010 10:36 PM

Here is a Lizard I came accross in Goblin Valley UT. I am unsure what kind it is exactly. It looked to be around four to fine inches long. If somebody can help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

relatively large head, large scales and the give-away collar suggest that your lizard is a subadult desert spiny (Sceloporus magister). you were at the northern edge of the range for this species. undulatus (now tristichus) occurs in this area, but they are less spiny and don't have the collar dorsally.
