Mtn Torts in the high desert CA?

negatronix Apr 16, 2010 09:03 PM

Just wondering if anyone has experience with Mtn Torts in the high desert. I am getting ready to move and want to make the transition as painless as possible for my Tort!

I'm just looking for some tips on how I can keep the humidity up in an enclosure that is 8Ft X 4Ft X 4Ft high. Prefer to not run a humidifier.

Thanks!

Kory,You will just have to make sure it stayes real damp and shadded. I saw the lush Air Force Golf cource out in the middle of the Arazona desert. Manouris is very addaptive in captivity. If your not to attached, I'd trade them for tortoises that are from Africa and Middle East. It be hard but not as hard as me trying to take humidity out of the envirnment! Tuff call, Vic

I'm very attached to Sherman, so he will be moving with me! I'll probably put a small pond in with some reeds or the like around it. He will be brought in at night, and during the winter as well.

Well then go for it. Add a sprinkler to that and you should be able to "wet the air" Vic
