Blood or Borneo?

PHLdyPayne Apr 22, 2010 10:39 PM

Considering a trade for one of my other snakes for the snake below. As I really have a hard time telling the difference between a blood python and a borneo...figured I will show the pictures here and see what you guys and gals think. Also, the snake seems kind of skinny to me...but it may be due to being a young snake. I don't think its a hatchling...but tell me what you all think.

I want to say borneo crossed with short tail personally, head says borneo, colour almost says short tail? Not a blood, that much I can say. ~Caylan.S.~

I agree, it looks like a Breitensteini x Curis, to me. what are they telling you it is?

I hit with initially Borneo (breitensteini). But there is something throwing me on this one.

She is being told it is a blood (brongersmai). Not sure if there is any curtus I might see is in the color, but then I was thinking perhaps it is a sarawak and not good photoss.

She is in canada if that helps.

It's just that, even with Dark Borneos, the side "webbing?" pattern is still usually peachy, and with bloods it is generally gray, beige or brown. Short tails usually have the darker pattern, which makes me think possible curtus cross.

Guy who currently has him thinks it is a blood python...It didn't look right to me for a blood..hence why I decided to post the pictures he sent me of it here.

Its a young snake, under a year old anyway and only in the guy's possession for a short time. The original owner/seller I know and I am pretty sure he doesn't have any blood pythons though doesn't necessary mean he didn't get it from somebody else...either way I am more interested in getting a blood than a Borneo at this time...and I really don't' want a hybrid if that is what it turns out to be.

Thanks for all your thoughts

I agree with Chris, I thought a hybrid Borneo to Black.

But it looks more and more like a Python Curtus to me

Looks like a really dull black blood AKA sumatrin short tail.
